Our monthly teen/YA book group meets for more reading adventures in November on a new day. If you are in Years 7-9, enjoy exploring books of all genres and have a creative streak please join us.
This month we’ll be discussing Beasts, a post-apocalyptic horror/thriller novel for teen readers written by Norwegian author Ingvild Bjerkeland. Society has been overrun by terrifying beasts who have appeared seemingly from nowhere. After pillaging cities they spread to rural areas where young Abdi finds himself on the run with his five-year old sister. Their only hope is to evade the beasts, not knowing who they can trust. Will Abdi and Alva ever reach the coast and then travel to safety on the Shetland Islands where their father is working? This is a suspenseful survival tale, full of tension and driven by the deep bond between siblings.
In November, we’ll also be launching our book group name, which has been decided by acclaimed author Darren Simpson, and revealing our whizzy new logo!
