Pageturners is a fun, interactive book group for 8-11 year-olds which meets at The Little Bookshop on a monthly basis. 2026 is the National Year of Reading and we welcome new members to join us for book talk and creative fun.
Our book group read for June is Sophie Anderson’s brilliant new novel, The House With Chicken Legs Runs Away. We first met Marinka, her friend Benjamin and that pesky House in Sophie’s 2018 debut, The House With Chicken Legs, which was shortlisted for the 2019 Carnegie Medal for Writing. Sophie was inspired by the Eastern European and Russian folktales of her childhood; hopefully, we’ll be inspired to design our own dream house – with or without legs - after plenty of book discussion!
Ask an adult to book you a place, online or at the bookshop. Tickets are £7 and include refreshments (and a Pageturners discount of 10% on book group titles).
Adults should be present at the session but are not required to pay for a ticket (max. one adult per child).
