Our Adult Book Group is back!
Join us on Thursday 1 May, 7-8:00 pm. Tickets £15.50/£7.00
Thanks to everyone for supporting our adult book group launch on World Book Day. We hope you all enjoyed the wine, cheese and book chat and had the chance to appreciate Stanley Tucci’s exuberant love of food.
At our second meeting, we’ll be discussing Clare Pollard’s scintillating, witty and thought-provoking novel The Modern Fairies. Her debut, Delphi, was published to critical acclaim in 2022.
The Modern Fairies transports the reader to the decadence and intrigue of Versailles in 1682. Its literary salons thrum with storytelling, gossip and machinations…both marital and political. Pollard paints a devilishly dark society in which no-one is safe.
The paperback edition of The Modern Fairies will be published on 3 April. You can order a copy from The Little Bookshop when you book your place and receive a 15% discount (£9.99 RRP).
Praise for The Modern Fairies:
‘Elegant, decadent, vulgar, clever, enchanting and dark. The love child of Angela Carter and Anaϊs Nin’ - Sarah Perry
‘Funny, filthy, dancingly clever...A delectable confection of many-layered pleasure’ – Joanna Quinn
